Cochin Rock and Band Culture?
- Kochi the one and only metro city in Kerala .The growing metro life paved way to many rock bands in the city. And also its mixed culture brings confidence among the youth to come forward and experiment with different genre of musics.There are around 18 rock bands in this city now. And this count would definelty increase in the coming days for sure.

1.Elite Aces
This band is considered as the pioneers in Kerala band arean. That was the time when rest of Kerala had no idea of what rock music was. During Usha Uthup’s prime she was “USHA and the Elite Aces”
Emil Issacs , is a legendary guitarist was the architect of the group. He has kept a very good relationship with singer KJ Yesuda and also used to travel with KJ Yesudas.Pinson Correya who was the drummer of 13AD used to be the drummer of Elite Aces.

2.The Hijackers
- Members of the band: Krishnan, T.S. Radhakrishnan(Kitcha), Ravi(P.K. Ravindran), Hari ( now no more) and Glen Gillbanks,Venu (Venoo Thampy).(Kuttan and Sudheer joined them later.)
- Stareted in The year: 1969.
- The Hijackers was christened as ‘Blue Angles’ then students of Maharaja’s college.
- Soon they changed the band’s name to ‘The Hijackers’.
- Current Status: Disbanded.

3.Thirteen AD (13AD)–Famous in 1980s-First band in Kerala
Was once(1980-1995) top most band in India along with Rock Machine (Indus Creed) of Bombay and Shiva of Calcutta ,bUT later broke up. No less than 40,000 cassettes of Ground Zero were picked up by the band’s fans all over the country, a record of sorts

5.Heretic
when guitarist Abhijit Namboodiripad, bassist David Jacob and drummer Cecil John started jamming together. But it was only a year later that our group found a consistent line-up and started making music together. Each of the members in the band was with their respective college band and we used to meet regularly at various college festivals and competitions. More than anything else, the need to play quality music and also make songs got us to form the band that we are today.

- What is the meaning of kaav?
The word Kaav comes from Kaavu; the sacred groves of Kerala. They are the aboriginal worship places where serpents, goddesses and ancestral spirits dwell in.

14.Dutch Street
- It all started When two youngsters John Shibin and Sylvester Clifford, sharing the passion for music started jamming together way back in 2008. Couple of months later these lead and bass guitarists were joined by vocalist Aisten Correya and all of a sudden the jamming became serious, with the addition of Emile George on drums and Gipson Peter on the rhythm guitar thus the Dutch street was formed!
- Initially the band was influenced strongly by Metallica, Iron Maiden, Black Sabath, Led Zeppelin, Gary Moore, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Jimi Hendrix and Van Halen. Now the Dutch Street has grown to become one of the leading bands in Kochi playing classical rock, heavy metal and progressive rock.
